Tortas in Cuetzalan are truly the best in the world. Nourishing and best of all: cheap. Consume and rinse down with ice cold beer. This truly is the signature of a caver.

First report!
Arrival to Cuetzalan arround 6:00 am after almost 8 hours of bus drive. The trip took so long because of the rains that have worn a lot the path; the road to Zacapoaxtla was partially destroyed and we couldn't take the usual shortcut to Cuetzalan.

We were all very tired after so many hours of travelling and specially we were hopping to reach our hotel. Finally we made it and we all went to bed.

Our hotel, "Hotel Viki" has been the main Head Quarters for all the expeditions we have been leading for almost 16 years. The owners are really nice and they welcome us with warmth and excellent service. As a matter of fact, we trust them a lot because they have been really careful and always have taken care of all our gear and equipment.

When we woke up we were able to have a nice encounter with one of the favourite caving meals: Tortas from Cuetzalan.

We spent the day trying to recover from the intense journey. We slept a lot and dreamt quite a bit about all the possible ways the expedition might turn up. As general facts we have to point out that the weather in Cuetzalan has been quite cold and more humid than we were expecting.

We can only hope it won't rain tomorrow so we can start exploring some caves. We are planning to head either towards Chichicasapan or Alpazat caves, but his depends entirely on the weather.
