The worst enemy: Rain
One

Promising Split.
It is still very cold. Good thing we can go caving. There is no rain today although we have some doubts. The weather report we got today arrived well except for a page that we could hardly read. It seems that there are some rains approching the area.

In the meantime we are safe, so we decide to take advantage of this weather and we split in two teams. One team leaded by Jonathan, Kev, Nikki, leaves arround 7:30am and heads towards Alpazat.

We all took the "colectivo" a little bus that takes us close to the cave and then we walked. Our main goal is to secure the cave in case the rains will start really hard. The procedure that we used is called setting up a "diving line". This is a safety procedure just in case someone gets caught inside a cave cluttered by the water from rain. What we usually do is to secure a rope showing very clearly the path to follow in case a diving caver has to go and rescue the eventual trapped cavers on the other side.

The aim is achieved with no trouble and after a little taste of caving we head towards the hotel arround 6:00 pm. In the meantime the other team with Lugger, Geordie, and Alan heads towards Chichicasapan and they got very lucky; they were able to survey about 350m of unknown cave segment.

If we keep with this rythm we will be advancing a lot in very few time.

Cavingly,

Jonathan
