The worst enemy: Rain
One of the biggest dangers cavers face on this expedition is rain. Why, you say? The Cuetzalan region is very humid during the whole year, and it's for this reason we're here now, during dry season.

Rain can completely fill up the caves, trapping the cavers within, in air-pockets, or possibly drowning them.

Now you know why our cavers are always talking about the weather.

Bad luck
Waiting. Rainy day. We have so much to explore and being at the mercy of weather is not very nice. The good thing is that the weather broadcast says that we will have a much nicer week-end.

With rain comes the fog to Cuetzalan, and as there's a lot of rain, there's an enormous amount of fog. From our hotel it's impossible to even make out the contours of the cathedral, 150 meters away.

At the end of the day, the rain stopped so Lugger and I decieded to go for a walk. We say a valley and follow an indian path. We walked down and at the end of it, we found a cave entrance that we haven't notieced nor surveyed before.

Actually, it seems that there ia a series of four new caves that could be explored. This made us very happy; in spite of the rain, we were able to explore and find something really interesting today.

I also phoned to England and asked the wether forecast people to e-mail me all the information this time, so we don't have to be relying on a unreadable fax. We are all looking forward to come back and survey those new caves

Happy caving!
