Is the water polluted in some caves?
Do you remember happy Toni eating tortas two days ago?

Well, today he is sick. We have several theories about what happened to him. Either he got ill because he had lots of pizza last night, or maybe because he got drunk or after all, the water he drank in the cave was polluted.

Unfortunately, sometimes the water in caves is contaminated by chemicals or sewage, and this can be very dangerous. Probably the answer is the last option. He presents all the disenteria symptoms, as a matter of fact, I got ill like this last year and Toni took care of me, that's why I'm nursing him this time.

He presents a series of hot chills, violent diharrea, pain in the joints and kidney, I am now the expedition Paramedic and will take care of him.

Some Visitors from Mexico City.
Nikki and Aich took two Mexican friends, Mike and Pancho that decided to go caving for the week-end, into Chichicasapan for a look around the Jaw Bone series. It was the first caving trip for the Mexicans and they really enjoyed it, although they could not believe some of the small, muddy constrictions that Nikki was taking them through.

Tony, recovering from his illness with a coffee and a cigarette.

Lugger, Charley and Geordy went to descend the 35M pitch in the cave discovered on the 3rd. They placed some bolts and secured a safety line and ladder. Lugger then descended a few feet and placed some bolts for the big pitch. Lugger then looked behind him and realised how precarious the top of the pitch was; the rock that has to be squeezed over had only very little contact with the cave wall. This is what educated, technical speleologists refer to as "hanging death". Bolts in lace, lugger was not able to decend the pitch as they did not have enough equipment to make it safe.

Marcus returned from Veracruz having successfully filled Jonathan's diving cylinders. He was extremly happy thus he will be able to go cave diving very soon. Veronica, another friend visiting the expedition and Jonathan walked up with Lugger's team, and then went looking for caves about 600M West.

Two new entrances were found which will be checked out soon Also, Ramón and Ruthy showed up and they joined the expedition for the week-end. They regret very much the fact that they are not free to follow the expedition full time but they will be here every week-end and this makes us feel very happy. We finished the day at Francisco's bar where Candy was waiting for us with a big smile and a Solera in her hands.

The Alpazat team were still at the camp and we were wondering how they were getting on.

Cavingly,

Jonathan
