Glory and floods.
Charley, Geordy and Aich prepared and set off on a three day trip down Chichicasapan. Their aim is to go beyond the current furthest point of exploration downstream. This area is called the Belgium extensions and was pushed in 1982 by (surprisingly) Belgians. No one has managed to get as far as they did since then.

Johnny unpacking his gear.

The Alpazat team returned with tales of glory. They had been exploring a small entrance next to Bivi cave (the place where they were camped) and had found 350M of passage. They also told us how John and Tony went into the cave to lay a phone line just after Jonathan had laid the diver's line. When they were in the middle of the low, flood prone section, it flooded. Luckily they are both fast runners and managed to escape the ravages of the flood.

Alpazat is now closed and will remain so until water levels drop sufficiently to allow cavers to traverse the low section again.

An email connection has now been established at Base camp and the British Meteorological office are now emailing forecasts directly to Jonathan's computer.

Cavingly,
